Emily and Ruby blog about fun activities for kids

About me: Emily

10 year old Emily lifting a big branch to add to the bivouac she is building

Hi!
I’m Emily and I’m 10 years old. I’m in year 5 at school. My favourite animals are cats, raccoons and pandas. I like playing games on my Xbox, going swimming in the sea, science, space, mud, cooking and everything to do with cats.

When I grow up I want to be a vet or work for NASA.

About me: Ruby

8 year old Ruby throwing stones into the sea in Worthing beach

Hello.

I’m Ruby and I am 8 years old and in year 4 at school. My favourite animals are horses, sloths and llamas. I really like art and writing. I love going to the beach, playing with my friends, playing with my cats and watching Stranger Things. When I grow up I want to be a teacher or a children’s Doctor. I want to write a blog of all the fun activities for kids to do in the UK.

Worthing Ice Rink, Steyne Gardens, Worthing

We have been here about 5 times in the last few weeks. I went when I was 5 with my Dad, but I found it too hard and he wasn’t very good at helping me. I went again with my best friend on a Saturday and it was so much fun. I had a little penguin thing that you can push around to help you get used to the ice. I really enjoyed it so I asked Mum to take me and Ruby a couple of days later.
When we went it was really quiet and we pretty much had the ice rink to ourselves. This was really good because Ruby hadn’t been before so she didn’t have to worry about people knocking her over. We both had the penguins to start with but it didn’t take long for us both to stop using them and then just skate on our own. I think that because we have had roller boots we found it easier to keep our balance. We were there for a few hours and we both got really good.
We went again the next day and even though it was busier we were still able to skate around. This time we didn’t need any help and we just got on the ice and skated off. We even tried out doing little spins.
We went again with my friend from school and she was really nervous. We hired her a penguin and then she had a good time.
we have been again a few times because it is legit my best thing to do in Worthing. I really wish it was here all the time so I could get my own ice skates and do it so much I could learn to do big spins and skate backwards.
I think that the ice rink is there until January or February so that’s good because it means we can go quite a lot more.
You should go there if you haven’t been there. You get skates given to you with the price you pay to get in, and there is a nice cafe bit, toilets and places to sit.
One day we were there and there was a really old lady in a wheelchair and the people that worked there took her on the ice and pushed her around a lot. That was nice that she got to do it even though she couldn’t get out of her chair.

Fishers Farm Park, Wisborough Green, West Sussex  17th November 2019

I was so excited to go back here. The first place I went was to see Duke and I think he remembered me because he came over to me for a cuddle. Then we went to try out some of the things we didn’t have time for last week.

We went to the climbing wall first.
The lady that helped us was really nice and was telling us the best places to put our feet and hands so that we could climb higher. I just wanted to climb high enough so that when I jumped down it would be fun. I really like hanging from the wire. I tried out all the walls and the blue one was the easiest for me to do.

After that, we went on something called the squirrel run. This is really fun. It’s like a big net that is hanging high in the air between some trees and you have to climb through the net between the trees. I really liked this. I didn’t feel scared because it felt really safe. I went on it loads because I could do it fast but Phoebe and Ruby took longer because they didn’t like being so high up.

Then we went and played on some of the things outside like the big jumpy pillow, the swings, the zip wire and the castle. The castle is really cool becsuse there are lots of bits to climb and hide in and lots of different slides.
Then we went and played crazy golf which was funny because I was really good but Mum kept missing the ball.
Me and Mum went in the maze and we had a race to see who could get out first. Mum won by a little bit.

At 1.30 there was a farm show where some people that worked there brought out lots of different animals and told us all about them. It was a really fun way to learn about them. The best bit is that the lady asked for some volunteers to feed some animals and me and Phoebe got to hand feed some goats and then the lady let us hand feed a highland cow. Mum was jealous because they are her best animal. The cow’s tongue was really tickly and I couldn’t stop laughing. We got to give her a hug too. It was so cool.

At 2 there was a meet the animals thing in the barn and we got to stroke a chinchilla, a giant rabbit, some Guinea pigs , a tortoise and a chick. They were all really sweet, The rabbit was so soft. If you go here you should definitely do all of these things.

The best thing we did was the sky fall thing. Even though the big jump was too scary for me I really liked jumping off the lower one.  Grown ups can do it too but Mum didn’t.

We had loads of fun and because we knew where everything was from last time and the staff are really nice it feels safe and is really good fun.
I really think you should go there. There are lots of things for little children to do too and they will really like the animals too.

I really love Fishers Farm. It’s so much fun right from when you walk in until you have to go home. There was lots of things I wanted to do last time but we ran out of time.
This time I went straight to see my sheep and then I tried out the climbing wall. It’s different to doing it at Out of Bounds but I like it because it’s outside and you don’t get all sweaty. Next time we go I am going to bring trainers too because it was a bit hard doing it in my wellies.

I was a bit nervous doing the squirrel run because the net moved when I was walking through it but Mummy and Emily told me I could do it so I did.
I liked the farmy assault course. That was easy. The tower was really difficult though and I kept falling down, but it was really funny.
Just near that tower is a big slope bit that you slide down in big blow up rings. They have handles on them so that it’s easier to carry them up the steps and to hold on to when you slide down because you slide down really fast.
Me and Emily and Phoebe did it so much and Mum was recording us. There are little rings for small people and bigger ones for adults or for 2 people to go in. It’s so much fun. We even made Mummy go in one a few times and that was really funny because she never does things like that.

At the farm show I was really sad because I wanted to feed a sheep because they are my best animals that are there, but only adults could do that. Mummy did it because it reminded her of when she was little and her Grandad had a whole field of sheep that she used to help feed so she was happy.

I did get to stroke some animals at the animal meet and greet and feed a huge rabbit a carrot so that was nice. Then I went to stroke the sheep.

We tried out the indoor soft play too this time. We were having a lot of fun until a man called me and Phoebe a really rude word. We told Mummy and she went and had a word with him and made him say sorry to us. He said we hurt his 2 year old but we didn’t and Mummy said that the soft play had a sign on it saying 5 years and older so his son shouldn’t even have been in there. I think there should be one of the nice people that work there seeing who goes in there because he made us cry and we didn’t do anything.

When we left we saw that there are cottages there that you can stay at so we are definitely going to do that in one of the school holidays.
I really want to work here when I am older so I can see the animals every day and teach children about them and how to be kind to the them.

Anyway we really love it here and I think everyone should go here and have a fun day out. We are going to get annual passes for Christmas so we can go every week.

Fishers Farm Park, Wisborough Green, West Sussex 11th November 2019.

Today I am going to blog about this nice farm. We went here on Sunday afternoon because me and Emily were feeling sad because it was one year since our Grandad died so Mummy said we should go and do something fun because Grandad liked us to be happy.

We had never been here before or heard of it but it looked good on their website. We got lost on the way there because Mummy had left her phone in the boot so we stopped somewhere so she could get it out. There were loads of cows where we stopped so me and Emily fed them some of their hay and Mummy found out where we needed to go then we got back in the car.
When we got to Fishers Farm the nice lady where you had to pay gave me and Emily a token each to ride a pony and we went straight there. I went on one called Scooter and Emily went on one called Rebel. You go round in a big circle and then get off again. I wished it was longer because I really like horse riding. If we go again then I want to get lots of tokens and do more horse riding.
Then we went into a place that had animals inside it and I was so happy because I found a really cute little sheep that loved me and kept giving me kisses. I wanted to take him home but Mummy said he already had a home. Mummy was happy because she got to stroke some Highland Coos that remind her of Scotland.
Then we went and did some quad biking and it was really funny because Mummy me and Emily had one each and we were having a race. Mummy looked a bit silly when me and Emilys ones ran out of time but hers was still going and me and Emily ran away and left her going round and round.
Then we went and played on some of the play things like the bouncy pillow and zip wire and had a hot chocolate and then we had to go home because it was dark and they were closing.
Me and Emily really want to go back again soon so I can see my sheep and Emily can see her horse that she loves and we can do more quad biking.
If you have never been there then you should go there soon because it is so much fun and the animals like having people to look at. It is one of the best fun activities for kids near us.

Ruby has already put a lot of what I was going to write in my blog but I think you should all go there soon as well. The money that you pay helps to look after the animals and the animals are all really nice. I found a really big shire horse called Duke that really liked me giving him cuddles and stroking his nose. I wanted to try and sneak him out but Mum said that would be silly because he was really tall. I did ride a different horse though and that was fun even when I thought I was going to fall off. It only costs £1 to ride them which is really cheap.
There were some guinea pigs and other animals too that you could stroke. There are lots of places to wash your hands before and after you stroke the animals.
I really like the quad bikes and next time we go I am going to buy loads of tokens and go on them loads. Those tokens are £1 too.

There was so many different bits on the farm and we didn’t even do half of them because we only had 3 hours because Mum got us lost before we got there. I think you have to go there for a whole day to do everything that is there. I was really sad to go home because I wanted to explore more but they were closed. Mum said we can go back again really soon and be there for a whole day. If we do that then I will tell you about the other things that they have there.
I hope you enjoyed reading this and hope that you want to go there too because it is really good fun. But you should wear wellies because it was muddy. And a coat because it was cold. I think the activities that you do there are really fun.

Clip and Climb at Out of Bounds, Rustington, West Sussex

We went here after school on Tuesday. We didn’t even know where were going there when Mummy picked us up from school. So that was a nice surprise. We went there in the car straight from school because they had a deal where you could do clip and climb at 4pm and then have a small pizza or hotdog and chips for £12.95 each which is cheaper than it usually is. My friend came with us too.

When you get there you have to book in and then wait until it’s time to go in a room and get your safety harness put on you and they tell you what you should do. Then you get to go into the climb bit where there are lots of different things that you can climb up. My favourite one was a pretend ice wall that you have to use like ice picks to help you climb up it. There are lots of different walls some are easy and some are lots harder, There is also some big green columns that you can climb up and then jump off and it’s like doing abseiling for a little bit. There is also a big slide thing that you have to wear a special jumpsuit for and hold on until it pulls you up the slope and then you slide down. I didn’t do that but Emily did.
Mummy got us some slush puppies which was good because we were really hot doing all the climbing.

When the session was over we had pizza and it was really tasty.
There is other things to do there like soft play and bowling if you don’t want to climb. You should go because there are lots of fun activities for kids there.

Sylvanian Families Popup shop in Soho, London.

SF is a great shop but they have unbelievable prices. The things I got from there was the Persian cat family, the Persian cat babies which were separate and a blue seven seater car and all of that was like £51.97.

But like I said at the beginning it is a great shop but I think they should lower the prices a bit.
If I had unlimited money I would literally buy the whole shop and take it all home. The shop is amazing, all the characters are so cute and all the cars and houses are really cool. The people in the shop are very nice and I definitely want to go there again. So if you like SF go and check it out.

Pumpkin Picking Patch, Sompting, West Sussex.

On a Sunday morning me and my Mum and my sister Ruby got in our car and we went to a pumpkin picking patch. I already knew that you could get blue pumpkins and orange ones because we have picked them before. We parked in a muddy field and went into the pumpkin field. There were wheelbarrows that people could use to put their pumpkins or their children in if they wanted to. Me and Ruby had one each and we walked around the whole field looking for different kind of pumpkins. We found lots of them. Some very funny shaped and they were all different colours. We picked the ones we wanted and then Mum made us stand in the pumpkin house for some photos. We had an ice cream each from the ice cream van and the lady there was really nice. Mum paid for the pumpkins and then we got in the car. It took a long time to get out of the field because there were lots of people. It was good fun though and I want to go again. The pumpkins were a lot of money but we had fun so Mum said that was ok.
Then we went to the beach to get the mud off our wellies but Ruby pushed me in and I got really wet so we had to go home.
